IT Program Manager – IT COO Office

Saxo Bank IT consist of over 450 IT professionals based in Copenhagen and Delhi who, using latest technologies and agile methodologies; design, build and run the Saxo Bank award winning, global multi-asset trading platform. Our specialty is within capital markets with focus on; high reliability, large volumes, low latency and a world class, cloud-based experience for retail, institutional and white label clients.

Our in-house designed and built Saxo Bank trading system handles:

  • over 25,000 concurrent online trading clients 24 hours per day / 5,5 trading days per week
  • more than 160,000 unique monthly users to our social trading portal
  • in excess of  400,000 price feed updates per second
  • intraday execution and booking of up to 900 trades per second
  • over 1,000,000 trade transactions processed daily


The position is within the IT COO function and you will report to the Head of IT Programs and Projects.  We are a team of program\project managers and technical business analysts responsible for running the IT projects that span multiple functions within the IT organisation. 

You will work closely with the business development team and business owners to scope new initiatives and bring the requirements back to the IT organisation for delivery.  Projects will range from the strategic through to risk and compliance and greenfield initiatives. 

As a recently formed and growing team the position offers opportunity to influence how the team evolves and the delivery methodologies we adopt to ensure we are prepared to scale to meet the demands of the book of work in 2018 and beyond.


  • You will be response for ensuring the programs are well planned, executed and released – providing timely and accurate communication to relevant stakeholders.  
  • Posing a keen interest and preferably prior experience with Agile delivery frameworks you will work with the Head of IT Programs & Projects to ensure we are adopting behaviours to achieve a scalable and agile delivery model across the IT organisation
  • Identify Risks, Issues & Dependencies and proactively seek to mitigate or minimize, and if not possible, expose, escalate and communicate them in a timely manner
  • Responsible for ensuring that a backlog of tasks is available and maintained such that project team has clarity over priorities, scope, requirements, solution breakdown and progress on allocated tasks
  • Ensure clarity and transparency around project budget, scope, and timelines
  • Mentor and coach new and/or junior program/project managers to support improved operational excellence across the program/project management discipline


As a person you have a positive attitude, with the ability to work well under pressure and perform comfortably in fast paced environment, whilst still achieving targets.

Further we are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Have 5+ years program management experience having worked your way up the project management career ladder
  • Time spent in financial services, preferably in the intuitional banking\capital markets area is a bonus
  • Proven ability to work in a global organization across multiple time zones and jurisdictions with onshore\offshore teams
  • Keen interest in or experience working in agile delivery frameworks
  • Good motivator and experience in coaching teams to achieve ambitious goals
  • Proactive from the get go and comfortable navigating an organisation with minimal direction
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • You possess good communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
